Catherine Cardelli passed peacefully on February 17, 2021 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, in Alameda, California, at 97 years old. She was born on August 21, 1923 in Alameda, where she lived her entire life. She was preceded in death by her husband Celestino “Lou” Cardelli, daughter Janice Dubois-Wheeler, sister Marie Botts and parents Guiseppe and Albina Ratto. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Rabbach (Vern), 4 grandchildren, Todd Rabbach (Deana), Stacy Wiley, Marci Stewart (John) and Tim DuBois, 7 great-grandchildren, Tristan Wiley, Davis, Dylan and Dawson Stewart, Paolina and Roman Rabbach and Sophia DuBois; and nephews Bill Botts (Alison), Vincent Vitucci (Kathy) and niece Rosanne Page.
Catherine attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and Alameda High School. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph’s Basilica and a proud member of the Italian American League of Alameda. Catherine worked at Olga Adams for over 40 years.
Catherine was taken Home by a special angel, her daughter Janice, who preceded her in death on February 17th, 32 years ago.
Due to current conditions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Histiocytosis Association of America or the National CMV Foundation.
