Eva Agnes Camara

Eva Agnes Camara, best known as “Tutu”, age 92, passed away peacefully the evening of May 24th, 2021 in San Leandro surrounded by her loving family.

Born in 1928 to a large catholic family in Hilo, Hawaii, Eva grew up, fell in love with the late Vernon Camara, best known as “Papa”, began her family, and developed her love for God on the islands. Eva moved her family to Hayward in 1966 and began her legacy on the mainland. She fiercely loved her family, her dogs, to travel with Papa, and of course her Oakland A's and San Francisco 49ers.

Eva is survived by her two sisters: Dorothy Carvalho and Barbara DeMello; three children: Rick Camara, Anne Mary Hendricks, and Yvette Camara-Santos; eight grandchildren: Kirsten Camara, Jessica Hendricks, Heather Camara, Rachael Hendricks, Juliana Santos, Ryan Camara, Alec Santos, and Michael Camara; and loving family in-law: Kelli Camara, Andrew Hendricks, Ralph Santos, Ashley Alvarado-Hendricks, and Jackie Ramírez.

Eva proved to be a strong leader of the family as a sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and most of all, friend, solidifying herself as the family matriarch that would be respected for generations and loved endlessly.
