Aida Adriatico Cabasa

Aida Adriatico Cabasa (79) was born on July 10, 1944 in Cavite City, Cavite PI. She passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023 with her two children, Priscilla Angeles and Frederick Cabasa, by her bedside.

Aida grew up in humble beginnings with her parents and two brothers and one sister. At an early age, she learned how to be resourceful and good stewards of her earnings by following her mother’s example of managing the family finances.
She later attended high school at Cavite High School and college at the University of San Carlos in Cebu.

She started her working career in OICC (Office in Charge of in Construction)i in Makati. Through her co-worker, Vicky, she met her future husband Pablo Cabasa through a blind date. The two eventually got married on December 6, 1970 and settled in their place in Makati and had their first child, Frederick Cabasa.

Always the ambitious couple, the two took a leap of faith and left their good life in the Philippines to move to the US on July 27, 1973. They arrived in San Francisco where they settled in an apartment in Noe Valley. In 1975, they bought their first house in the Outer Mission. Aida also started her illustrious career at Bechtel where she spent 34 years performing and managing financial analysis. In 1980, they had their second child, Priscilla. In 1982, the family moved to Pinole where Aida would continue to live till her passing in 2023. In that timespan, her husband passed away on July 9, 2016.

Aida will always be remembered as the matriarch figure of the Cabasa family. She spent many family memories going to OICC family parties, fishing trips in Sacramento, stays at Circus Circus Reno, various camping trips, vacationing in Makati, and family vacations to the Bahamas, Hawaii, and Europe.

Aida and her husband also had a vibrant social life in Pinole. Aida would frequently have gatherings and events with her Cavite Class 60 batchmates. They were also very active at the St Joseph Choir participating on Sunday mass. Even when the choir disbanded, she still maintains consistent gatherings with former choir members.

Finally, Aida will always be remembered as a generous person. She is always giving to those in need especially those relatives in the Philippines. She always taught her children to be generous with their resources. Aida was also instrumental in helping others migrate to America. Her San Francisco house was a place of refuge for many migrant friends and relatives. Although she never showed her emotions often, her actions spoke volumes of her love for others.
