Anthony George Terlaje

Anthony George Terlaje (known as “Pilo” to family and “AG” to his coworkers), age 73, passed away on May 4, 2021 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, California. He is survived by his wife, Lina Calvo Terlaje, four children, Marilyn (William Reyes), Marvin (Lynette Lizama), Yolanda (Joseph Alan Pellacani) and Regina (Vicente Cruz), grandchildren, Briana, William Jr., Kylie, Monessa-Rose, Megan, Miah, Christopher, Alan, AliaJo, Cory, Desiree & Jade, and his brother, Vincent Terlaje (Karola). He is preceded by his daughter, Monessa Rose Calvo Terlaje, his parents, Vicente F. & Regina George Terlaje, his sister, Carmelita T. Luce and his mother in law, Francisca Mendiola Calvo.

Pilo was born and raised in the village of Agana Heights on the Island of Guam. Pilo joined the Guam Police Department right out of High School. In 1974 he enlisted in the Army Reserve and completed basic training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. He returned to Guam and served four years as a paratrooper for the 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion. He then received his Degree in Criminal Justice and went on to have a distinguished 30 year career with the Guam Police Department serving in the Special Enforcement Division (SED), where he was recognized for his selfless effort and was awarded a Silver Star, he served in the Rapid Response Team (RRT), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and then ultimately retiring in 1997 at the rank of Sergeant. After retiring from GPD, Pilo’s public service was not over, he continued to work under the Federal Emergency Management Assistance (FEMA) assisting with natural disasters out of the Dallas Fort Worth office in Texas and as a contractor at NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California.

When he was not working or traveling to visit his children and grandchildren in the US Mainland you will find him back home in Guam where he loved and enjoyed the company of countless family members and retired GPD friends, sharing stories that make your stomach hurt from laughing so hard. He will also be found outside of his houses planting, working on his jeep, doing household projects, and feeding the chickens and pigs while barbequing and listening to the sounds of Chamorro music in the background.

Pilo passed away surrounded by his wife and children. Although he will be missed, we are content knowing that he is resting peacefully and will be watching over us from heaven.

Esta’ke man ali’ hit talu’!
