Antonio Berena Torres

Antonio Berena Torres was born on September 9, 1942, in the province of Batangas in the Philippines, the middle of eight children. He met his future wife, Norma, while in college at Far East University, and the two wed on April 9, 1969. Later that same year, they immigrated to the United States.

A year later they celebrated the birth of their first son, Antonio. In 1979, they would welcome the arrival of their second son, Norman, followed by their youngest son, Arthur, in 1983. He instilled in them the values of honesty and integrity. As a child, he had learned how to cut hair. When the boys were young, he would act as their official barber. He also imparted to them a love of fishing and a talent for fixing things. Later in life, Norman and his wife Rachel would make Antonio and Norma grandparents with the births of Annie, Abby and Bayani. The grandparents took advantage of every opportunity indulge and spoil the children. Antonio loved to sing (badly) to the children, sometime while playing the piano (also badly).

Antonio is survived by his wife, Norma, his sons, Antonio, Norman and Arthur, his grandchildren Annie, Abby and Bayani, his sisters, Luming and Puring and his brother Martin.

His viewing will be held at Holy Sephulcre funeral home in Hayward on February 28th, from 4 PM to 8 PM with prayer vigil commencing at 6PM. The funeral mass will be held at Saint Felicitas Church on February 29th at 10 AM with the interment following afterwards at the Holy Sephulcre Cemetery.
