Armanda Jovita Santos Valente passed away peacefully on November 7, 2023, at the age of 89, in her home with her husband and son by her side.
Armanda was born in Lombo de São João, Ponta do Sol, Madeira Island, Portugal on October 18, 1934, the daughter of Agostinho da Silva dos Santos and Matilde da Silva da Vargem.
On August 1, 1971, she married Longuinhos Gomes Valente at the Igreja dos Álamos in Funchal, Madeira Island, Portugal, and the following year their son, Miguel, was born. Armanda and her family emigrated from Madeira Island to California on August 9, 1973.
Armanda loved singing, sewing, embroidery, cooking, gardening, and being with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Longuinhos, and son Miguel. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Henrique, Virgilio, and Agostinho.
Services will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Sepluchre Cemetery & Funeral Center, 26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward, California.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Armanda’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
