Bernardo Quiroz

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bernardo Quiroz, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us on October 10, 2024, at the age of 91. He was a man of many talents, a lover of life, and an inspiring example of resilience and determination.

Born in the Philippines, Bernardo learned the value of hard work and perseverance at a young age. As a boy, he sold chiclets and newspapers on the streets to help fund his education, paving his way to a brighter future. He graduated from Far Eastern University with a degree in accounting and thrived in the industry for 30 years. He carried that same drive throughout his life, eventually immigrating to the United States with his wife Carmen and 2 daughters to create better opportunities for his family.

In his earlier years, Bernardo found joy in exploring the world and embracing different cultures, whether it was exploring the US national parks in the little green van, experiencing the beauty throughout Europe and Asia, or enjoying his favorite local spot at Drake’s Beach in Point Reyes. Even as age limited his mobility, Bernardo kept the adventurous spirit alive through his stories and memories.

A true social butterfly, Bernardo had a natural charm and the gift of gab that endeared him to everyone he met. He loved to dance and could often be found at the center of a lively gathering, bringing joy to those around him with his infectious smile and sense of humor.

His practical nature shined through in his love for being a self-taught handyman, always eager to learn new skills and tackle projects big or small. Bernardo took pride in everything he did, from fixing things around the house to major renovations.

He is survived by his children Maridel Valdez, Dulce Quiroz, Dennis Quiroz, grandchildren Matthew Valdez, Mark Valdez, Joshua Golden, Jacob Golden, sisters Amada and Teresita, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. We will forever cherish the countless memories and the lasting lessons he left behind.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, November 8, 2024, at St. Joseph Funeral Center in San Pablo with a luncheon following his burial.
