Can Duc Tran

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Can Duc Tran.  He was born on May 26, 1933 in Bui-Chu, Vietnam. He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Khen Dang, and his 10 children: Dinh, Phuong, Huong, Tuong, Canh, Tuan, Lan, Carol, Robert and Kim.  He was a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren.

Can immigrated with his family to the United States after the Vietnam War, and settled in St Joseph, Kentucky.  His first job was as a custodian at West Louisville Elementary School, but eventually changed his career to farming.  For the next 10 years, he worked as a diligent farmer for the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph.   His normal work day would include harvesting crops, cutting tobacco, loading haybales and cutting grass.   Life was hard, but he enjoyed the simple country life.

Always striving for a better life for his family, he moved to Hayward, California in 1988.  There, he retired and watched his children grow up to have families of their own.  He continued to be an active and engaged parishioner at Saint Felicitas Church.  During his free time, he loved gardening and attending church events.

He will always be remembered as a loving and jovial husband, father, grandfather and friend.   May he rest in peace.

The funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, June 5th, from 10:00AM - 11:00AM, at St. Felicitas Church, 1050 Manor Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94579.

In lieu of flowers, please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers
