Carlos Tavares, loving husband of Nancy Tavares, father of Natalie Decool and Nathan Tavares, father-in-law of Josh Decool, and future “Pops” to Baby Girl Decool passed away suddenly on May 3, 2023, after a courageous battle against Parkinson’s.
Carlos was born to his father, Manuel (deceased 2022), and his mother, Maria, in the Azores. He was the loving brother to Fernando Tavares (deceased 2013) and Dot French, brother-in-law to Jim Korhummel, brother-in-law to Liz and Charles Whitaker (deceased 2022), proud uncle of Michael Tavares, Katie Whitaker, Brooke Beesley, Tori Whitaker, Blake Beesley, Chelsea Torres, and also survived by his loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Carlos had a passion for many things that included cars, traveling, the Warriors, and fixing things. The best description of Carlos would be that he was a family man, his family was always what was most important to him. Carlos was a proud man, loving, smart, kind, and had a sense of humor that made you laugh, whether it was at him or with him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and Funeral Center located at 26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward. Reception with food, drinks, and shared memories to follow immediately after. Please contact the family for details.
