Carmen Nick

Carmen Nick, 95, passed away peacefully on December 20th, 2023, at Bridge View Care Home in Walnut Creek, CA.  They will be deeply missed by their family, friends, and all who knew them.

Born on July 16, 1928, in Pittsburg, CA to Macedonia Acosta Ramos and Raymundo Ramos, Carmen Nick had a passion for learning at an early age.  They attended Pittsburg High School where they excelled academically.  Her thirst for knowledge continued at Diablo Valley College and other academic institutions and endeavors throughout her life.  She never stopped wanting to learn.

Carmen Nick was known for her compassionate, giving nature as well as her fierce love and devotion to her family and many friends.  In 1948 she married her beloved husband, Isaac Calvin Nick.  They met at the USO at Camp Stoneman in Pittsburg, CA, during World War II.  Together they created a loving and supportive home – with an incredible garden since both shared a love for nature and gardening.

Professionally, Carmen Nick worked for over 30 years at US Steel in Pittsburg, CA – first starting out in the personnel department and then working her way up to Executive Assistant.  Her tenure there brought her many wonderful friends that she stayed connected with till the end.

Outside of work, Carmen Nick had many passions and hobbies. In addition to gardening,  she enjoyed painting, art and porcelain doll making.   She was also an active and proud member of St. Agnes Catholic Church as well as the Catholic Daughters.

Carmen Nick was preceded in death by her husband of over 45 years (1996) Isaac Calvin Nick.   She is survived by her daughter Lisa Scott (Russ Scott), granddaughter Ashley Banducci (Jason Reyes), grandson Jacob Banducci, granddaughter Morgan Scott,  her great granddaughter Mary-Jean (MJ) Reyes plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Her family will miss her devotion and love very much.
