David Lozano, Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, on October 19, 2023, at the age of 82.
David was born in Oakland, CA on September 13, 1941 to Juan and Madeline Lozano. He spent his childhood fishing the Berkeley and Albany shores and with his friends at the local rec club.
In 1958, David met Barbara and they were married at St. Ambrose Church in Berkeley in 1963. In 1971, they purchased their first home in Richmond where they raised their four children and continued to make priceless memories with their growing family.
In 2003, after over 33 years of service, David retired as a Scientific Engineering Associate from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he designed and constructed tools and equipment used for research. He was very proud to work alongside prestigious scientists and physicists.
During retirement, David and Barbara enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. In 2012, they relocated to Vacaville where they recently celebrated sixty years of marriage.
David enjoyed fishing, panning for gold, studying history and loved to dabble in his garage where he perfected gadgets and worked on his 1965 Mustang. In his later years, David published a memoir of his life and adventures.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Monica Cohen (Tony), David Lozano Jr., Christina Stewart (John) and Robert Lozano (Katie); 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery and Funeral Center in San Pablo on November 16, 2023. Viewing 10:00 am, funeral and burial services 11:30 am. All family and friends are welcome.
