Our beloved Elba Caliz Velazquez was called upon by our Almighty God on April 18, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. She was 73 years young. Born in Penuelas, Puerto Rico on September 23, 1950 to Andalecio Caliz and Casilda Velazquez.
Her favorite people here on earth called her “Titi”. She had no children of her own. However, she was more than an aunt, she was a second mom to three generations and to some she was their mommy. A true testament to the remarkable woman whose life was evidence to the power of love, resilience, and the strength she displayed. The bond, each niece & nephew shared with her was profound and life-affirming.
Titi Elba had a genuine and pure soul and she spent her final days declaring I love you’s, playing bingo and card games by her rules. She instructed her great nieces and nephews to always be respectful to their parents. But most of all playing jokes on us and offering quick witty comebacks. She never lost her ability to make us laugh and smile .
Elba was known for being a kid at heart and took every opportunity she could to display her Puerto Rican pride. She loved Betty Boop and watched cartoons any chance she had.
Elba is survived by her brother Hector Caliz and sister Luisa Tello and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
