It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend, Evelia (Valerie) Madera Boccaleoni, on August 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on April 19, 1965, in Livermore, California, Evelia grew up in San Mateo before making her home in Fremont with her wonderful family and pets. She began her career with BFI as a recycling coordinator and eventually moved on to becoming a Teacher Assistant at Saint Clement Catholic School. Her children attended the same school. She leaves behind countless memories of graciousness and altruism there.
Evelia was a woman of warmth, joy and resilience. She loved music and dancing. She was always the first to bring life to any gathering with her energy and radiant smile. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling. She was blessed to experience countries like Italy, Guatemala, and Mexico, along with many other places. Her belief was "live your best life”, something she always lived by. She loved the beach, warm weather, and sunbathing. She was a flower enthusiast and loved her garden. She loved butterflies and their symbolization.
Above all, Evelia's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Cassandra and Teresa, and her son, Louis. Evelia's love for them was boundless and she took pride in supporting them through every step of their lives.
Those who knew Evelia will remember her as someone who lived life with an open heart. She was generous, compassionate, and always ready to uplift others with her words and actions. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and resilience that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her children, Cassandra, Teresa, and Louis. Her parents, Jesus and Teresa. As well as her siblings, Gloria, Ruben, Jose, Jesse; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and countless friends. She is now resting with her beloved brother, Enrique "Kiki" Madera.
As we remember Evelia's life and legacy, we find comfort in the words of John 11:25-26: "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die."
The vigil for Evelia will be on September 11, 2025, at St. Michael Church in Livermore, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM; Rosary starts at 5:00 PM. The funeral mass will be on September 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at St. Michael Church. Followed by committal at St. Michael Cemetery.
