Faustino Mariano Galaviz

It’s with great heartfelt sadness, we message family and friends that Faustino M. Galaviz passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2022 at Palo Alto Veterans Hospital. He was 49 years old when he passed away after a 6-month struggle from a rare bladder cancer. Faustino was born in Oakland, California in 1972 and grew up in Hayward, CA, the son of Jessica and Felix. He was a loving Son, Father, Brother, Nephew and Cousin. He graduated from Hayward High School and attended Chabot College and pursued his career interest at San Jose City College. Faustino loved the outdoors. He loved gazing at stars in the deserts and visiting Lovelock caves. He especially, loved fishing with his cousin Nick, Dad and uncle Gavino at the Truckee River where he caught the big ones. He felt the woods were special. In 1999, Faustino and Norma Cisneros, his fiancée, welcomed the joyful arrival of their daughter Gia Miranda Galaviz. They spent time together with friends and relatives. Gia was a blessing to him. In time, Faustino decided to follow his father’s military footsteps and pursue his career interest in the Army. So, he enlisted in the Army and completed his training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He received his training in Chemical Operations and was granted a certificate and badge. He was a proud soldier and served with honors. Faustino is survived by his daughter, Gia Servin and son-in-law, Josh Servin, his father, Felix Galaviz, Jr. and stepmother, Norma Ambriz-Galaviz, his mother, Jessica Martinez Hart and her spouse Anthony Hart, his sisters; Marisol A. Galaviz, Pennie Galaviz Ybarra and his brother-in-law Anthony Ybarra, and his brother, Emilio A. Galaviz, his uncles; Fr. Allen Martinez, and Robert Gonzales, his aunts; Rosalie Leon and Sally Durazo and cousins, Nick and Rita Sanchez, Susanna and Jose Gonzalez, Peter and Elizabeth Leon, Julia Leon, Martin Leon, Charlie Durazo, Gina Durazo, Richard Durazo and his niece Marissa (Alex) Mata, nephew Eric (Tiara) Ciaverelli many other loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Manuel Leon, his aunt, Lupe Gonzales and his grandmother, Josephine Perez. Services will begin on Wednesday, September 21st, 4-8pm with a rosary starting 6pm at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery & Funeral Center at 1051 Harder Road, Hayward, CA 94542. On Thursday, September 22nd, a Catholic mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church at 10:30 am, 22824 Second Street, Hayward, CA 94541 and followed with the burial at Lone Tree Cemetery, 24591 Fairview Avenue, Hayward, CA 94542.
