Florencia “Flor” (Mejia) Villafuerte

In Loving Memory of Florencia "Flor" (Mejia) Villafuerte October 27, 1933 - November 13, 2023

Florencia "Flor" Villafuerte, a beloved wife; mother and grandmother peacefully departed this world in the early hours of November 13, 2023, just 17 days after celebrating her 90th birthday. She has now reunited with her beloved husband, Luis, in the comforting embrace of heaven.

Flor originally hails from the Philippines. Born in Pasay City, she was the 3rd of six siblings, to the late Gaudencio Sr. and Anastasia Mejia, nee de Leon. As a child she was always interested in beauty and loves being pretty. Seeing that, her mom, the late Nanay Anching encouraged her to take up Hair and Beauty Culture after graduating from High School, prior to getting a four year college course. Flor became very successful, busy yet happy at that field so much so that she never wish to pursue a College degree ever anymore. Until her last days she always beams with pride and so much joys in endless amusing anecdotes about her becoming one of the top notched and most sought after Beautician in her younger days.

A devoted and cherished Mom and Grandmother, “Mommy” or “Mommy Flor” as she was fondly called by many, leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of her children and their spouses, Luis Jr. (Joey) & Monette; Dolly & John; Janet (Daisy) & Willie. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Sam; Julia; Jenica; Justin; Krisel; Jolo & Kat who were the pride of her life. She was also survived by two younger sisters, Lily and Hermie; nephews and nieces. With her indomitable spirit & unwavering faith in the Lord, Mommy Flor remained a pillar of strength long after her husband's passing, allowing her to witness with pride and love the growth and accomplishments of each of her precious grandchildren. Always with a warm smile and a sparkle in her eyes, her nurturing spirit and unwavering support enriched the lives of her family, creating a foundation of strength and unity that will endure through the generations.

Known for her boundless compassion and warm persona, Flor brought comfort & laughter to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was friendly and helpful; cheerful; outgoing; very outspoken and enjoys being in the center of any gathering but yet a deeply religious person even when she was younger. Upon her retirement from her career as a Beautician, she became everyone’s “sister in Christ” or “Sister Flor” through a number of religious organizations she happily joined and led in different Parishes. And so she has made a lot of friends from different walks of life all through the various stages of her life. Her home was a haven of love, filled with laughter, shared stories, and the comforting aroma of home-cooked meals. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and family values will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate to be a part of her life. As we bid farewell to Flor, let us remember her with love and gratitude for the beautiful tapestry of memories she leaves behind. In honoring her, let us continue to embrace the values she held dear, keeping her spirit alive in the love we share with one another. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband, watching over her growing family from the heavens above.
