Genieva ‘Gen’ N. Gray, 96, of Walnut Creek, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6th 2022. Genieva was born in Oakland, California, daughter of the late Joseph and Velma North.
She was a valued employee of Far West Laboratory for Educational Research and Development where she was an accountant for 25 years. After she retired in 1982, she worked for the Office of American Samoa. What brought the most pleasure to her was spending time with her family and friends. She was always organizing an event for celebrating a holiday, birthday, or just time to be together. Genieva was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and devoted friend. She just had that way about her that made people feel welcome as she was genuinely interested in your life. She had many hobbies and interests. She loved to travel, tend to her garden and decorate her home. Gen loved to recall stories about the good times in her life shared with the ones she loved. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Genieva was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Henry C. Gray. She was also preceded in death by her sister Beverly A. North and her two brothers, Joseph O. North and Roy K. North. She is survived by her son Dale Gray and his wife Jeanie, daughter Sharon Gray, and son Ronald Gray and his wife Moira. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kevin Gray, Alisa Gray, Brian Papeman, Kurtis Bower, Nichole Rieger, and Ashley Gray. She also has 8 great grandchildren, and most recently a great-great grandchild.
A funeral service celebrating her life, will be held on Thursday, July 28th, 2022, at 11:00 am at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, 1965 Reliez Valley Rd, Lafayette, CA 94549. Reception will follow at the same location.
