Straggas and Grace Solomon, was born September 30, 1931, at Salt Lake City Utah, and later attended West High School. He served honorably in the United States Navy and received his education as a brick and stone mason from Laney College in Oakland, California. George was united in holy matrimony with the late Betty Montez in 1955. George and Betty were blessed with three children, five grandchildren and two great grandsons. George was blessed by God with the gifts of generosity, charisma, and a boundless sense of humor. He was also a gifted mason who built stone, block and brick structures throughout Northern California. Once an avid hunter, George later turned to golf as his passion. George and Betty also owned several thoroughbred racehorses and enjoyed several trips to the winner’s circle, always accompanied by a few grandchildren. Although Californians for most of their lives, George and Betty loved Lake Tahoe, and they spent part of their retirement years living in Incline Village, Nevada. George’s bountiful life will live on in the lives of his children: Richard Jason Straggas of Lewisville TX, Diana Straggas DeFrance of Hayward CA, and George Daniel Straggas of Laguna Niguel CA; his daughter-in-law, Christina Straggas of Lewisville TX, his son-in-law, Roger DeFrance of Hayward CA, and his daughter-in-law Janet Okon Straggas of Laguna Niguel CA; his grandchildren: Jeffrey Straggas (and wife Amanda Straggas) of Batavia IL, Eric Straggas of New Lenox IL, Connor Straggas of Lewisville TX, Jennifer DeFrance of Fremont CA, and Christine Todd (and husband Michael Todd) of Pleasanton CA; and great-grandsons: Grayson Todd of Pleasanton CA and Micah Straggas of Batavia IL. Mr. Straggas passed away peacefully on October 10, 2022, at his home at Aegis Living in Fremont, California. Services for Mr. Straggas: November 8, 2022, Viewing 5:00 p.m., Rosary Service 6:30 p.m., Holy Sepulchre Funeral Center, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward CA 94542; November 9, 2022, Funeral Mass, 11:30 a.m. at Saint Clement Catholic Church, 750 Calhoun Street, Hayward CA 94544; Military Honors/Entombment to follow Funeral Mass at Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum.
