Guy Arthur Railsback

Guy Arthur Railsback, 79, of Walnut Creek, California passed away peacefully on February 12, 2022 from complications due to Parkinson's. Survived by his wife of 22 years, Frine (Orquiola) Railsback; two sons, Andrew Mandapat of Los Angeles, California and Manny Mandapat of Concord, California; and sister, Nancy Nichols of San Anselmo, California.

Born on December 22, 1942, to Lucille Giles and Guy Railsback Sr. in Batesville, Arkansas, Guy grew up in the Pleasant Hill/Lafayette (California) area. He attended Acalanes High School, excelling in track and cross country. He went on to complete his studies at a local community college and joined the United States Army.

In 1996, he met the love of his life, Frine. They were married in June 1999. They lived in El Sobrante, Walnut Creek, Monterey, and Pacific Grove (California), before moving back to the San Francisco/Bay Area.

Guy worked for the Lafayette School District as a Landscaper for 30 years until he retired in 2005. Guy was a very active man, and an avid hiker. He also enjoyed watching NFL football (Kansas City Chiefs), James Bond, eating out, traveling, cats, and spending time with his family and friends. But his real passion was hiking and running. He continued participating in 5K runs until his early 70's, winning top medals for his age group. Guy became a Catholic in 2014 and attended both San Carlos Cathedral (Monterey, CA) and St. Francis Xavier (Seaside, CA). He was a giving, patient, and simple person who will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery on Friday, March 11 @ 11 a.m. Reception to follow in Concord, CA.

• 1PM - 1:30: Commitment (optional)


• 1:30PM - 5PM: Reception (address to be provided to attendees)
