Jennie Espinosa Solis

Jennie Espinosa Solis passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday July 6th 2022 in Antioch, California. Jennie was born in Delagua, Colorado on May 22, 1931, a daughter to the late Thomas and Paula Espinosa. Jennie’s father was a coal miner. Jennie said she was the true coal miner’s daughter way before Dolly Parton.

Jennie is survived by her husband John S.Solis of 64 years, daughter Paula Solis of Southern California, Anna Fiedor (Joe) of Livermore California, John D.Solis (Traci)of Concord California. Jennie is also survived by her grandchildren Daniel, Dru and Jessica Solis, Matt and Josh Fiedor of Livermore and preceded by granddaughter Kristin Fiedor of Livermore California, and many nieces and nephews. Jennie moved to San Francisco from Colorado immediately after high school graduation.

Jennie met her husband John at the Sweets ballroom. The “Go to” venue in downtown Oakland during the big band era. They danced and listened to bands like Xavier Cugat and duke Ellington.

Jennie was the “baby” of eleven children. She was especially close to her sisters Julia Trujillo, Charlotte Rangle, and Louise Hernandez their get togethers had plenty of great champagne and a lot of laughter. Jennie was an amazing cook with some of her favorites pork meat and green chili, homemade tortillas and enchiladas to name a few.

Jennie was one of the founding couples of a social club called “The Compadre” Club. They had 10 couples that would host dinners once a month and travel.

Jennie worked as an administrator assistant for small companies, Foremost insurance for the longest at 15 years.

Jennie can be remembered by her huge heart, laughter, love for family and friends.

A mass will held at Queen of Heaven in Lafayette, California 1965 Reliez valley road On Friday August 26th at 11:00 and reception after mass.
