Jess R. Quesada

Jess Ruiz Quesada, 93, of Antioch, passed away peacefully on August 21st, 2022. Jess was born in Pittsburg on July 13,1929 to Victoriano and Yldefonsa Quesada. He graduated from Pittsburg High and married his devoted wife, Betty Romo in 1951. After serving bravely in the Korean War (Army), he returned home to meet his firstborn son.

Jess worked for over 27 years at DuPont in Oakley and later at Silvera’s Lumber yard, Domtar, and at Holy Rosary Parish as their maintenance man.

Jess was a passionate and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand. He lived a life of faith and attended The Most Holy Rosary Church in Antioch with his wife Betty. There he served as a eucharistic minister and led bible study groups for many years. He and Betty were also active participants in the Antioch Seniors Club for many years. Jess’ other interests included painting landscapes, dancing, singing, baking bread, fishing, and gardening. He loved to travel. His travel adventures with his wife took him across the US, Europe, the Holy Land, Central America, South America, and Polynesia.

Jess is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty (Romo) Quesada, his children, Ronnie (Beverly) Quesada, John (Ernestine) Quesada, and Diann (Allan) Cacciaroni, as well as 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 3 siblings; Virginia (Gilbert) Ruiz, Louie Quesada, and Robert Quesada. He is predeceased by his parents and 6 siblings; Julia Lopez, Joe Quesada, Lola Blankenship, Frank Quesada, and Jenny Lopez.

Friends and family are invited to a rosary at 6:30 pm Thursday, September 8th, at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, 2200 East 18th Street, Antioch. Visitation will begin at 4:30 pm. A Funeral Mass is scheduled at 11:00 am on Friday, September 9th at the Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel.
