Jose Venancio Martinez, known to friends and family as Joe, passed away on June 19, 2024, in Castro Valley, California, at the age of 80. He was born on May 29, 1944, in Cleveland, New Mexico to Alfredo Antonio Martinez and Nicanora Garcia. He was one of 7 children.
Joe grew up in Cleveland, NM. After high school graduation, he followed his siblings to California to find work. He worked briefly at Boeing in Seattle Washington and then returned to California to do factory work.
He lived a solitary life marked by the warmth of his personality. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Marty, David (Pepio), Mary Ida (Pie), Rose and Alfred (Lato) and his beloved cat "Monk".
He is survived by his son, Joseph Donavon Martinez (spouse Lisa), grandchildren Kaitlyn and Anthony, his sister Erolinda Casados and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.
Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced later.
