Lucille Olivia Ortega Brautigam, a woman of immense talent, kindness, and loyalty, passed away peacefully at her home in Pittsburg, California, surrounded by her loving family on November 7, 2023, at the amazing age of 103. Born in Nicaragua to Lydia Paulina Ortega and Pedro Pablo Ortega, Lucille was the beloved youngest sister to four brothers and three sisters. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community. Lucille's journey to the United States began with a love story. She met her future husband, Harry E. Brautigam, in their hometown of Bluefields. Their love spanned continents and decades, and together they built a life full of love and laughter in Pittsburg, California. Lucille and Harry were blessed with four children: Jeannette, Sandra, Rose Margret, and Harry Jr. Her family grew to include 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Lucille was a woman of many talents and interests. She was an accomplished painter and knitter, a voracious reader, and skilled cake decorator. She also found time to volunteer to do income tax for those in need and took culinary classes to further her skills. Her dedication to learning and helping others was evident when she obtained her diploma as a nursing assistant. Her involvement in her church and community was a testament to her caring nature and commitment to service. Lucille was known for her kindness and warmth, traits that endeared her to all who knew her. She was a beacon of light in her community, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. Her lessons on family values have left an indelible mark on her family and those who knew her. And when she spoke to you, she spoke from her heart. Lucille's life was a celebration of love, family, and service. Her legacy is one of loyalty, care, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. She was a woman who lived her life with grace, dignity, and a deep sense of purpose. time for visiting with the family of Lucille Ortega Brautigam will be held on January 4, 2024, at 10:00, am, followed by a celebration of her life at 11:00 am at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery Chapel located at 1965 Reliez Valley Rd., Lafayette, CA 94549. Only Immediate family will participate in the internment while the rest of those in attendance are invited to remember her and join reception immediately after chapel services end. As we remember Lucille, we celebrate a life well-lived, a woman well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and her spirit will continue to live on through her family and the countless lives she touched.
