Manuel Oliveira Valente
September 2, 1934 - February 3, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Manuel Oliveira Valente, who left us peacefully in February 2025. Born and raised in Pico, Azores, Manuel spent his early years working in the fields alongside his family, embodying the values of hard work and dedication that would stay with him throughout his life.
In the early 1960s, Manuel married Teresinha Faria Valente, and together they raised their only son, Manuel Antonio Valente. The family migrated to the United States in the late 1960s, eventually settling in San Leandro, CA, where Manuel worked tirelessly for over 30 years as a factory worker. His strong work ethic and integrity earned him the respect of friends, family, and colleagues alike. He was pressed by his own son Manuel Antonio Valente and his father Antonio Oliveira Valente and his mother Maria De Gloria Valente.
After retiring, Manuel found joy in helping care for his granddaughter, Gabriela, whom he loved dearly. His commitment to his family continued with the birth of his great-granddaughter, Sophia, in the early 2010s, and later, his second great-granddaughter, Suleika Alexandra, who was born just a month before his passing. Manuel was blessed to meet Suleika before transitioning to be with our Lord.
Manuel’s life was defined by his love for his family, his unwavering support for those he cared about, and his enduring kindness. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Teresinha, his granddaughter, Gabriela, and his two great-granddaughters, Sophia, and Suleika. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A viewing, followed by a mass and burial, will be held on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, beginning at 9:30 AM at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.
