Marjorie Louise Whalen

Marjorie Louise Whalen (88) of Albany, California passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024, in Danville, California. She was born to Joseph and Rose Borba on August 23, 1935.

She is survived by her son John and his wife Carolyn, along with her nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Barry Whalen, her daughter Joanie Whalen, her sister Mildred Palfini, her brother-in-law Jim Palfini and her parents Joseph and Rose Borba.

She grew up in Albany, CA. She graduated from UC Berkley where she met Barry at a Newman Club Dance when she was an undergraduate studying for her BA in Spanish, and he was studying for his PhD in electrical engineering. She and Barry were married on July 14, 1957.

She was a schoolteacher at Longview Elementary School in Berkley. She and Barry moved to Baltimore for a few years before returning to California where they resided in Rancho Palos Verdes and started their family. In later years they lived in Austin, Texas before moving back to California to the San Francisco Bay Area where Barry successfully completed his career before retiring in Alamo, CA

Margie was a kindhearted person who loved children and animals. She was a dedicated wife accompanying Barry on many trips throughout the years. As a mother, she poured her love and wisdom into raising her two children.

There will be a Memorial Service on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 12:00 PM
