Marsha Lee Sciortino

MARSHA SCIORTINO JANUARY 9, 1948 - OCTOBER 9, 2021. Marsha was 73 and passed peacefully with her family by her side in Manteca, CA after a brief battle with cancer. Marsha was born in Hayward, CA to Paul and Betty Tehero, and grew up in "The Manor" in San Leandro. She went to Dayton Elementary, and graduated from Marina High School class of 1966. After high school, she began a job at the Oakland Army Base. She met and married the boy from across the street, Joseph Sciortino on September 10, 1967. The two were married for 54 years and raised two children while residing in San Lorenzo. Marsha went to work for the San Lorenzo Unified School District at various scvhools, until finally making Corvallis School her home as the Office Manager until she retired in 2003. One fact about Marsha is that she was in the first graduating class at Marina High School in 1966, and worked there as a Clerk Typist the year it closed in 1982. Growing up, Marsha participated in Campfire and tap dancing at Dots Dance Studio. As a mother, she was involved in Campfire with her daughter, as well as the PTA. She became very involved with her children's soccer league and for many years was the league registrar for SACYSL. During those years, she grew close to many friend's that were an extension of her family. Marsha became a member of Daughters Of The American Revolution (Josefa Higuera Livermore Chapter). She enjoyed annual family camping trips to Hat Creek. One she retired, Marsha and Joe enjoyed cruising to Alaska, Mexico and the Panama Canal as well as traveling across country for several weeks. She also visited Spain, Portugal, Hawaii, and Mexico. Marsha is survived by her mother Betty Tehero, her husband Joseph Sciortino; her children Michael Sciortino (Theresa) of Tracy, CA; Gina Silva (Tomas) of Oakley, CA; brother's James Tehero (Nancy) of Arizona; Stephen Tehero (Arlene) of Discovery Bay, CA; and sister Donna Tehero of Kathleen, GA; her grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Marsha was preceded in death by her father Paul Tehero. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 26 at 9:00am - 11:45am with service to follow at 12:00pm at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 1051 Harder Rd. Hayward, California. In lieu of floral sentiments, the family would appreciate your prayers and any memorial donations go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the American Cancer Society in her name.
