Mary Jessie Mendoza

MARY JESSIE MENDOZA, 100 years old, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2021 at her home in Fremont, California. Mary was born in Oakland, CA on June 4, 1921 to Santos and Juana (Guerrero) Martinez. She was raised with two brothers and three sisters.  Mary lived mostly in Oakland and Fremont, with her beloved husband, Enrique of 56 years. This is where they raised their two children, Henry and Eva.

Mary graduated from Oakland Technical High School and later was employed as a production line supervisor for Western Paper Box in Oakland and Hayward, CA. Mary never missed a chance to dress up and socialize with family and friends. She enjoyed going to South Lake Tahoe, listening to excellent mariachi music and concerts, and rooting for the Oakland A’s and SF Giants. At home she enjoyed cross stitching beautiful art work for her home and family,   tending to her rose bushes and succulents, reading her newspaper, and later watching cooking shows, QVC, and Jeopardy.

She loved dancing with her husband Enrique (Henry) for hours at a time. They often traveled to Mexico City, the Hawaiian Islands, and on the occasional cruise. In later years she loved going to local recitals and musicals with her niece Jay Quesada. Mary enjoyed eating unique new dishes at local restaurants.

Mary is survived by her loving son, Henry (Esther), loving daughter, Eva, grandchildren Elisa Mendoza, Carmen Besirevic (Damir Besirevic), Eduardo Mendoza (Jessica Barker), Antonio Mendoza, Anthony Francisco (Kelly), and great grandchildren Hayden and Cale Francisco and Aldin, August, and Mila Besirevic.
