Michael Eugene Winter

Michael Winter passed away peacefully at age 87surrounded by his loving family. He had fought a brave battle against pulmonary fibrosis. Born and raised in Richmond, California, Mike was the son of Wilma Marie and Edward Eugene Winter. He was their only child. Growing up, sun-filled summers were spent in Hollister at the ranch where his mother was raised years earlier. It was during these early days of his youth, Mike first learned the value of hard work, community service, and extending a helping hand. Mike graduated from Richmond High School in1954, and UC Berkeley in1958, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts and a teaching credential. He taught high school for several years, before launching a wildly successfully career as a real estate broker. Throughout his 40year career at Pacific Bay and Security Pacific Real Estate, he routinely set benchmarks and won awards. He was well-known throughout the community for his dedication, compassion, and talent. On August 7, 1960,Mike married the love his life, Lucinda (Cindy) Anne Dias. They were married for 62 wonderful years. Together, they have 2daughters, Julie (who shares the same birthday)and Jennifer. Mike had a deep passion for the water, which included many adventures on the boats he owned throughout the years. He also enjoyed spending time at his beloved ocean front house on the coast. Being near the water was his peace and happiness. Mike was also a long-standing member of the Richmond Rotary and Sons In Retirement (SIRS). He enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie he developed there over the years. Mike is preceded in death by his father, Edward and his mother, Wilma Winter. He is survived by his wife, Lucinda, daughters, Julie, and Jennifer, as well as his cousin, Arline Groscup who resides in Arizona. He will be missed immeasurably by all that knew him. Visitation will take place on June 6 from4pm – 8 pm at St. Joseph Cemetery & Funeral Center. Funeral services will beheld on June 7 at 11am in St. Michael Chapel’s at St. Joseph Cemetery & Funeral Center, 2540 Church Ln, San Pablo, CA 94806. Donations can be made in his memory to the SPCA and the Richmond Rotary.
