Michael “Mykal” Anthony Bean

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the untimely death of Michael “Mykal” Anthony Bean, age 45. Our most beloved son, brother, uncle, family member and friend left this world on Friday, July 29th, 2022. Those who knew Mykal, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives.

Mykal was born on March 9, 1977, in San Francisco, CA. He was a loving son and best friend to his mother and father, Maria and Will Bean. Mykal was their first, and only son. At a very young age he started taking dance lessons in many different genres; tumbling, tap, jazz and ballet; which expanded and broadened his love for dance. It was apparent that Mykal would be the star of the family. At 19, he moved to Los Angeles. He started dancing and performing at concerts and for videos for many big-name artists. Mykal was well-known in the dance community, and even did some modeling and acting to round out his career. After well over a decade of dancing Mykal decided to try his hand at film. He registered to attend the Los Angeles Film School, and in 2015, Mykal graduated cum laude. Mykal was also a very eloquent writer; always with his head in a journal. He had an ability to bring things together in his mind, and then craft all of his brilliant thoughts and ideas on paper. When he would write you could feel all of his emotions and feelings as if they were your own. Anything he set his mind on, he worked hard to accomplish with greatness. He traveled the world doing the thing he loved most but he never lost sight of where he came from.

His family was his center. He would come home to relax, recharge, and get a dose full of all his nephews and nieces. Playing games, watching movies, hanging with them; laughing, listening and singing to music, and just having fun, and eating. He loved food, and he would post all the yummy food he would eat throughout his travels, but he really loved to post all of the big meals he would share with his family, especially during the holidays. Whether it be his love for dance, food, or family, he loved with a passion. He lived his life to the fullest in every way. He always wanted to share what he had, even when he didn’t have a lot. Mykal had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Everyone who knew Mykal knew that he was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and peaceful person, and that he loved his family very much. His laugh was contagious, and his smile could light up the room.

Mykal is survived by his parents, Wilfred and Maria Bean; his five sisters, Angela (Mark) Dethlefsen, Loretta (Nick) King, Elizabeth Bean, Bernadette (Steve) Gluck and Veronica (Jorge) Chavez; eight nieces and four nephews, many family and the countless close friends who were like family to him.

We know Mykal is now with his grandparents, Salvador and Eleanor Igasan, and Toledo and Irene Bean, along with the aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and friends we have lost along the way.

You are forever in our hearts Mykal. We love and miss you so very much.
