Nunzio Parisi

Nunzio Parisi, a proud Italian immigrant and long-time resident of Castro Valley, passed away on November 16, his 89th birthday.  Born in Bitritto, (Bari) Italy on November 16,1935 to Giamberadino and Maddalena (De Michino), he was a beloved husband for 65 years to Francesca (De Pasquale); loving father to Madeline (Jeff) Scudder, John (Paula Lewandowski) and Cecilia; Nonno (Grandfather) to Nancie, Frances (Marcus Duterte), Anna, John Paul (Andrea Hall), Michael and James; Bisnonno (Great Grandfather) to Gia, Roscoe and Parker; dearest brother to Frank (Maria) and the late Michael (Carmela), Giuseppe and Angelo; proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Mr. Parisi immigrated to the United States in 1956 seeking the American dream.  He first landed in Chicago with his family and was proud to serve in the US Army from 1959 to 1962.  In 1959, Mr. Parisi married his wife Francesca and they settled in San Leandro, where they raised their 3 children and called home for 25 years until they moved to Castro Valley in 1985.  Mr. Parisi was an accomplished Machinist, making it to the top of his trade as a Tool and Die maker for Caterpillar Tractor in San Leandro and Lockheed in Mountain View.  He was a long time member of the “Society of Our Lady of Costantinopoli”.  The Maria SS. Di Costantinopoli Society is a non-profit organization founded by Italian immigrants from the city of Bitritto, based in Roman Catholic values, chartered to help those who are in need of assistance. He was a very proud family man and loved spending time with his family, enjoying many Italian traditions but most of all, the fine family meals prepared by Francesca. We will forever cherish his enthusiasm for nurturing the vegetable garden, his joy in traveling with friends, the graceful way he would glide across the dance floor with his beloved wife, and his playful spirit in games.  He loved life and his family.  The core of his beliefs will endure in everyone he touched: Faith, Family & Flag ! 

A funeral mass to celebrate and honor his life will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2024.  Visitation starts at 10am, followed by a rosary at 10:45am and the funeral mass starting at 11:30am at the Catholic Church of the Transfiguration, located at 4000 East Castro Valley Boulevard, Castro Valley.
