Paola Quilici

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paola Tommasi Quilici. Paola peacefully transitioned to her eternal heavenly home on the very first day of the new year, 2024. It was a crisp clear beautiful day with the birds chirping surrounded by her faithful husband of 63 years, family members, her loyal care takers and her devoted cat, Nina. Her favorite Christmas music was playing, the fireplace was lit and Christmas decorations surrounded her. Paola was a devoted Catholic who paid homage to her beloved “Virgini Santisima di MonteNero” and a long time parishioner of St. Catherine’s of Siena church, Martinez. Born in Pieve San Paolo, Lucca, Italy on May 19, 1940 to Teodoro and Eda Tommasi. Paola was one of three children. In 1958, Paola crossed the Atlantic with her parents and her brother, Tommaso only to leave behind her sister, Adriana. She arrived in San Francisco where soon she met the love of her life, Guiseppe (Joe) Quilici. They wed on August 13, 1960, had three children: Mark, Catia, and Monica. Paola is survived by her beloved husband, Joe(Guiseppe), her loving children; Mark, Catia and Monica. She will be greatly missed by her daughter- in-law, Nanette, her sons-in-law, Paolo and Gino. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Nicolas, Matthew, Luke, Angelina, Adriana, Gabriel, and Andrew along with her great grandchildren: Giovanni and Enzo. Paola was a patient and passionate cook. She enjoyed her garden and her home. Paola and Joe enjoyed the many social events with their Italian Clubs. Her pets ranging from canaries to dogs were lucky to have a loving owner. Paola adored her brother, Tommaso. In our journey through life, the pursuit of fulfillment is a common thread, yet its definition varies for each individual. For Paola, true happiness was found in the blossoming of her family and continuing traditions inherited from Italy. It is within the embrace of her family and the passing of these traditions that her spirit remains eternal. Her rare character and radiant energy contribute to a lasting legacy that continues in the memories of those fortunate to have known her. So, grief becomes a welcomed friend, for it becomes a sweet reminder that we were blessed with someone who will be forever missed. Her spirit shall forever continue to inspire us to always serve the best foods and enjoy each other's company. La Famiglia was of utmost importance to Paola. Paola’s Memorial Mass will take place at St. Catherine’s Church 606 Mellus Street in Martinez on Friday, March 1 at 10:00 AM with the interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery 1965 Reliez Valley Road in Lafayette. In lieu of flowers, Paola would greatly appreciate a donation be made to the Hospice of East Bay. Please visit the website at ww.hospiceeastbay.org
