Pascual “Pete” Garcillano Astrero

Pascual “Pete” Garcillano Astrero went home to rest with the Lord on January 11, 2023. He was born on May 17, 1940 in Tarlac, Philippines to the late Alejandro and Irene Astrero.

In his youth, he worked on the family’s rice and sugar cane farm. He later received his Bachelor’s of Science in Horticulture and recognized as an outstanding teacher in every district.  Pascual migrated to the United States in 1970 and settled down in San Mateo. He worked as a groundskeeper at the Peninsula Golf and Country Club creating beautiful landscapes. 

He was a very kind and devoted Catholic.  He was a Eucharistic Minister, Choir member, involved with the Knights of Columbus, Legion of Mary, Adoration Society, Cursillo, and other organizations. Besides his dedication to the Church, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling. 

 In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Maximo and sister, Juliana. He is survived by his wife, Teresita and stepchildren, J.R. and Sarah; former wife, Fe and their children, Gerard and Mary Ann; sisters, Emerenciana, Paulina, and Maria; 3 grand children and a great-grandson; a nephew, nieces, and many cousins.

Visitation at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery & Funeral Center, Monday, January 30th from 3:00 PM-7:00PM with a 6:00PM Vigil with Father Bart.

Mass Services to be held at St. Joachim Church at 10:30 AM and Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery & Funeral Center.
