Patricia Killelea Springer of Berkeley, CA, passed away peacefully in her sleep and in the comfort of her home on April 28, 2024. Patricia’s brilliant spirit, her radiant smile and compassionate heart captivated everyone who knew her.
Patricia was born to proud Irish immigrant parents Patrick and Nancy Killelea. She was the younger sister to Michael. Patricia attended Thousand Oaks Elementary School, and then moved on to St. Mary Magdalen Elementary School. She then attended St. Joseph’s Presentation High School in Berkeley, and later graduated from San Francisco State University obtaining her teaching credential.
As a child, Patricia enjoyed helping her brother on his paper route, being an usherette at the Oaks Theater and eventually moving on to her passion of becoming a Teacher. Patricia spent most of her career at Collins Elementary School in Pinole. After retiring, she worked in Albany at the Turnabout Shop. Patricia was very involved at St. Mary Magdalen as a lifelong parishioner.
Patricia married her husband George Springer in 1989 at St. Mary Magdalen. George was the apple of Patricia’s eye. There was no better pair than the two of them. Their love inspired many.
Patricia fought a brave battle against cancer and was grateful to the support of her caregivers Tina, Topa and Mary. Patricia leaves behind her beloved husband George Springer of almost 35 years, her brother Michael Killelea of San Rafael, and many nieces and nephews.
We will say goodbye to Patricia on Thursday, May 9, 2024. There will be a Funeral Mass at 11:30am at St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Berkeley, CA, and a Reception afterwards, followed by an Interment at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in San Pablo, CA. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation in Patricia’s name to St. Mary Magdalen, or a charity of your choice.
