RAMON ARISTIDES BERMUDEZ OBITUARY
Ramon Aristides Bermudez Mejia “Papa Mon”, age 84 was called home to our Lord on Friday September 16th, 2022. He spent his last days surrounded by his loving family.
Born August 31st 1938 to Martin and Victoria Bermudez in the City of Tepecoyo, La Libertad, El Salvador. He was the youngest of seven kids and the last of his generation for the Bermudez family. He met the love of his life Iris (Cornejo) Bermudez in Tacachico, La Libertad, El Salvador in 1966. A true romanticist, he spent the first 6 months courting Iris sending her love notes and serenating her with his guitar every night. They spent 56 beautiful years together raising a family.
He graduated from the National School of Agriculture in El Salvador with an Agronomist Engineer Bachelor’s Degree in March 9th 1962. He spent over 25 years at the Banco De Fomento Agropecuario (Agricultural Bank) as a Regional Bank Manager in charge of several branches among many other positions that he held.
In 1983 he and his family immigrated to San Francisco, CA where the family developed their lives as American Citizens. Papa Mon worked for the Belmont School District and retired after 15 years. Upon arrival to the United States, Papa Mon gave his life to Jesus Christ and began serving several parishes in San Francisco, Daly City and Hayward, CA. He spent the longest time serving at St. Clements Church in Hayward for over three decades.
A beautiful singer and skilled guitar player, he spent over 30 years as part of the Church Choir for the 9:00 am Mass and playing the guitar and singing along with his son Juan Carlos Bermudez and his daughter in Law Ivette (Gonzales) Bermudez. He never missed an opportunity to pick up a guitar and sing “boleros” during family gatherings and other events. He often said that music was what got him through tough times and brought him happiness.
Papa Mon adored his family and loved piling up his home with kids, music and food. As his kids, we all looked forward to weekly gatherings to watch him smile. Family was his life and he never missed an opportunity to say “I love you”. Sundays were spent with his sons, sons in law and nephews watching football, baseball basketball and soccer. He loved all bay area teams, 49ers, Raiders, Warriors, A’s and Giants. He knew of no Bay Area team rivalries. On Wednesdays, he would pack a lunch, take Bart and catch an A’s game. He was a kind soul. He enjoyed taking yearly trips to El Salvador with his wife Iris. For over 25 years they donated a week of their time preparing and delivering care packages to the elderly and to Children’s Hospital.
Papa Mon is mourned by his 5 children, Sandra Corina Ceren, Julia Victoria Angel, Juan Carlos Bermudez, Mario Roberto Bermudez Sr. and Rene Mauricio Bermudez Sr. His family included fifteen grandkids and two great grandkids all who adored him and loved spending time with him.
His smile, love of God and Church, charity work and beautiful words of advice will be missed. We are forever thankful to our Lord Jesus Christ for blessing us with such a beautiful soul in our lives. Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and best friend. Papa Mon, until we see you again….

Ramón Arístides Bermudez Mejía, “Papa Mon”, de 84 años, fue llamado a casa de nuestro Señor Jesucristo el viernes 16 de Septiembre de 2022. Pasó sus últimos días rodeado de su amada familia.
Nació el 31 de Agosto de 1938. Hijo de Martin y Victoria Bermudez nació en la ciudad de Tepecoyo, Departamento de La Libertad, El Salvador. Era el menor de siete hijos y el último de su generación. Conoció al amor de su vida Iris (Cornejo) Bermudez en Tacachico, La Libertad, El Salvador en 1966. Un verdadero romántico, pasó los primeros seis meses cortejando a Iris, enviándole notas de amor y seraneándola con su guitarra todas las noches hasta que se ganó su amor. Pasaron cincuenta y seis hermosos años como Matrimonio.
Ramón se graduó de la Escuela Nacional de Agricultura en El Salvador con una Licenciatura como Ingeniero Agrónomo el 9 de marzo de 1962. Pasó más de 25 años en el Banco De Fomento Agropecuario como gerente del banco regional a cargo de varias sucursales. En 1983 él y su familia emigraron a San Francisco California desarrollando su vida como ciudadanos americanos. Trabajó para el distrito escolar de Belmont y se jubiló después de 15 años. Al llegar a los Estados Unidos, tuvo una conversión y entregó su vida a Jesucristo. Desde ese momento, comenzó a servir en varias parroquias en San Francisco, Daly City y Hayward California. Pasó la mayor parte del tiempo en la iglesia de San Clemente en Hayward por más de tres décadas.
Un hermoso cantante y un hábil guitarrista, pasó más de 30 años como parte del coro de la iglesia tocando la guitarra y cantando junto con su hijo Juan Bermudez y su nuera Ivette (Gonzales) Bermudez en la Misa de las 9:00 de la mañana. Nunca perdió la oportunidad de tomar una guitarra y cantar. A menudo decía que la música fue lo que lo ayudó a superar los momentos difíciles y le trajo felicidad. Adoraba a su familia y le encantaba llenar su casa con niños, música y comida. Como sus hijos, todos esperamos reuniones semanales para verlo sonreír y escuchar las bellas historias de su infancia. La familia era su vida y nunca perdía la oportunidad de decir “te amo”. Los Domingos eran para sus hijos, yernos y sobrinos viendo fútbol Americano , béisbol, baloncesto y fútbol. Seguía a todos el equipo del Área de la Bahía, 49ers, Raiders, Warriors, A's y Giants. No sabía de rivalidades entre equipos del Área de la Bahía. A menudo, los miércoles Iris le preparaba su almuerzo para llevar y ver a los Oakland A’s jugar. Era un alma bondadosa que disfrutaba hacer viajes anuales a El Salvador con su esposa. Durante más de 25 años donaron su tiempo preparando y entregando paquetes de artículos para regalar a los ancianos y a niños enfermos en los hospitales.
Lo lloran sus cinco hijos, su familia ,15 nietos y 2 bisnietas los cuales lo adoraban y amaban pasar tiempo con él. Se extrañará su sonrisa, su amor de Dios en la iglesia, su obras de caridad y sus hermosas palabras de consejo. Siempre estamos agradecidos con nuestro Señor Jesucristo por habernos bendecidos con un alma tan hermosa en nuestras vidas. Fue esposo, padre, abuelo, bisabuelo y mejor amigo.
