Roberto Alvarado Padilla, passed away in his sleep at home, Saturday evening at the age of 95. Born July 13, 1928 in Cañadas de Obregón, Jalisco, Mexico to Gerardo and Isadora Padilla.
Roberto grew up in Los Altos de Jalisco, Teocaltiche. He married a beautiful hometown girl, Decideria “Lali” Muñoz Velis during the fiestas de Noviembre on November 13, 1951 in Teocaltiche. They moved to the United States and settled in Oakland, California where they lived for 57 years until her death in 2008. He is the last of four siblings and two step sisters.
Roberto migrated to the US in his teens and worked many jobs. He eventually became an ILWU Local 10 member working ports in the East and North Bay. His favorite passion in life was buying and selling cars, houses and just about anything else. He was quite the entertainer and conversationalist when making deals. He had a competitive edge when it came to playing dominoes and canasta with friends and family.
Survived by his children, sons Gerardo, Jesse, Roberto Jr. and daughters Alma, Alicia, Maria Aide, daughter in law, son in law, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, beautiful wife, children Gloria, Patricia, Raul and Angel.
