A Robert Charles McWilliams was born in Passaic, New Jersey on February 6, 1941 to Francis and Nellie McWilliams. Robert (Bob) was the youngest of three siblings, with Nellie his sister and Francis (Mac) his brother. Bob spent his high school years at the Peddie School in New Jersey and then attended Ursinus College in Pennsylvania. Post college, Bob went to work for Carter’s Baby Clothes in Massachusetts. A young lady needing a ride home from Carter’s one night caught his attention. That ride home would culminate in a 55 year marriage and love affair with his wife Beverly. They were married in 1965 and three years later would welcome their first child Robert Jr. (Bobby) in 1968, then John (1971) and a year later Douglas (1972). In 1974, the family made a decision to relocate to Pleasanton, California on a work transfer, and have enjoyed the same home ever since. Bob went to work for Viacom at the start of cable television and enjoyed a wide a varied career for over 35 years with Viacom. Bob was a renaissance man living out the proverb that a rolling stone gathers no moss. He was always busy with a voracious reading schedule, working with his hands on countless projects, tending to an amazing garden, building a stamp collection, working on the family genealogy or simply spending time with his family. As a father, he was tough to keep up with, as he had the stamina and drive of men half his age and continued that well into retirement. Bob and Beverly would enjoy traveling and were able to travel abroad a number of times, visit family on the East coast multiple times and make the trips down to southern California, a few times each year, to see their sons and grandkids. He is survived by his wife Beverly, his son(s) Robert Jr. (Bobby) and his wife Jenni, John and his wife Michelle, and Douglas. He also has had eight grandchildren; Cody, Penny, Bobby and Lily from Robert Jr./Jenni and Keri, Lexi, Noah and Olivia from John/Michelle. On May 3, 2020 God called his faithful servant home at the age of 79 and he will forever be remembered in all of our hearts.
