Salvatore J. Ferrrante

Salvatore Ferrante passed away in San Jose, CA on December 17, 2023, at the age of 76 leaving behind his long-time love and wife Mary Brown, family and friends. Born to Horace and Eleanor Ferrante in Pittsburg, CA in 1946. Salvatore attended St. Peter Martyr Elementary School. Graduated from Pittsburg Senior High School and received his BA degree from San Jose State. Sal’s early summers were spent abalone diving on the North Coast with his aunt and uncle, Dolly and John Tomasini and their three children, Ron, John and Joanne.

After serving four years in the United States Air Force, Sal returned to San Jose State to acquire his teaching credentials. Sal taught fifth and sixth grade at Del Roble School before teaching Art, Science and Technology and producing the annual yearbook at Bernel Intermediate School in the Oak Grove School District in San Jose for over thirty years before retiring. During Sal’s retirement he volunteered at the local Senior Centers teaching technology, ceramics and exercise. Sal’s hobbies included: hiking, cooking, baking, crafting, photography and dancing. Sal leaves this world with the beauty of his art and caring for all to see.

The memorial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch, CA on Thursday January 18, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
