Theresa Mary Ruiz was born on June 10, 1955 to Connie and Gustavo Lopez in Oakland, California. Where she was raised alongside her siblings, and multiple family members.
While growing up in Oakland, Theresa lead an adventurous life where she enjoyed, dancing, listening to all types of music, and loved to be on the go.
She later moved to Houston, Texas for 10 years where she worked as a waitress and pushed her love for dance into full gear by participating in dance competitions.
In 1989 during her time in Texas ,Theresa suffered from Kidney failure and had to attend Dialysis multiple days a week.
In 1994 she would return to Oakland, Ca and marry Tony Ruiz, who unfortunately passed in 2001.
Theresa was a fighter who was able to overcome multiple losses within her family, and remained on Dialysis for 33 years and overcame multiple health conditions.
During this time that she spent at home, she discovered her love of playing domino’s, Yahtzee, watching movies, purchasing items on Amazon, and playing games on her phone and tablet.
She loved dressing up, wearing jewelry, attending family gatherings and spoiling her grandchildren when she was given the opportunity.
Unfortunately, Theresa passed away November 23, 2022 at 9:16pm.
Everyone who had the opportunity to know her knew her as an outgoing character who loved living life to the fullest.
Theresa is survived by her siblings, son, daughters and her 9 grandchildren. She will definitely be missed by all that loved her.
A funeral vigil is scheduled for Monday December 12th, 2022 from 4PM-8PM, at Cooper Chapel 1580 Fruitvale Ave. Oakland, CA 94601.
Burial will take place for Tuesday December 13th,2022 at 11am at St. Josephs Cemetery 2540 Church Ln. San Pablo, CA 94806.
A Celebration of Life will be hold at The Presbyterian church in Oakland, California 2619 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94612 starting at 1:30pm-5pm on Tuesday December 13th, 2022.
