Virginia Ramos Mosqueda

Virginia Ramos Mosqueda, 88 years old, died on Sunday, January 8, 2023 with her family by her side. Virginia, also known as Virgie, was born on August 7, 1934 in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, to Serafin and Casimira Ramos. She was the eldest daughter of 12 siblings. Virgie married Lamberto Mosqueda and moved to Berkeley, CA in 1956 where they joined the St. Ambrose parish. Virgie was a homemaker while her husband was in the Merchant Marine. After her husband passed, Virgie worked diligently as a seamstress, beautician, nanny, and a food service worker for the Oakland Airport before she retired to take care of her grandchildren. Virgie is survived by her son, Larry and his wife Chloe, and her daughter Vernadette and her husband Ismael. She has five grandchildren, Nicco, Vanessa, Gianni, Mica, Noah, and two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Vidette. Also, her remaining siblings, Mercy Nipay, Emma Lapuz, Macy Bienviaje, Ester Diano and Ramsey Ramos. She is predeceased in death by her husband, Lamberto Mosqueda, son, Edwin Mosqueda and daughter, Mary Jean Mosqueda. Virgie is a devoted mother, sister, daughter, grandmother and great-grandmother. She accomplished so much in her lifetime by raising her children as a single parent, caring for all her grandchildren, working diligently, and opening her home to her siblings and parents. Virgie called Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Game Show Network her movies. She loved playing games like Bingo with her grandchildren and picking up treats for them at Acme Bakery. She kept a spotless home and drove her car everywhere until she was 80 years old. She lived her life with so much zest and spirit and even at the hospital, the nurse described her as a “firecracker” full of light that shines even brighter now that she is in heaven. She affected everyone with her presence and will be truly missed by her family. Virgies viewing will take place Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery & Funeral Center, 2540 Church Lane, San Pablo CA, 94806. Virgies Mass will be on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1145 Gilman St., Berkeley CA, 94706.
