WILLIAM (BILL) ANTHONY CAETON

PINE GROVE, CA – William A. Caeton, 98, died of Alzheimer’s on October 19, 2022, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Senior Home Care in Stockton, CA. He was born on June 13, 1924, in Oakland, CA to Walter Caeton and Josephine (Petschauer) Caeton. Bill graduated from Hopland High School in 1942. Following graduation, Bill enlisted in the US Army in 1943 where he was stationed in the Philippines and New Guinea during World War II and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. After the war, he met and married Dorothy Margaret Enos in Hayward, CA on July 15, 1951, and recently they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. After residing in San Lorenzo, CA for 30 years, Bill retired as a plumber from the City of Oakland. They moved to Pine Grove, CA in 1989 where until his death Bill referred to as “God’s Country” for its serenity and beauty. Bill spent a good portion of his retired life pushing his grandkids around “God’s Country” in his wheelbarrow as well as commiserating with the neighbors and delivering his beloved dogwood trees to all of Pine Grove. Bill also had a passion for camping, hiking, and fishing which included smoking and canning his catch. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Walter Caeton of Fremont, CA and sister Joan Bell of San Ramon, CA. Surviving in addition to his wife, Dorothy Caeton, are his three daughters, Sandra Alvarez of Pueblo, CO; Kathleen Haselroth of San Lorenzo, CA; and Bernadine Petays of Pueblo, CO. Bill also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.
